Louange Pour l'Eternité de Jesus

The pianist on this live recording from 1998, is Jacob Greenberg. This was from my senior recital at Oberlin! Jake's mastery on those final chords still blows me away.

Celine Broken Morricone

Here is a longer track by Celine. Eric's long snare drum roll sets up the arc of the form.

Here's a little track from the trio with Eric Thielemans and Jean-Yves Evrard.
I'll put some more excerpts up soon, but this is from a record that got made and never released. Maybe there's still a chance we can get it out there.

Cor Fuhler's ppp quintet

Cor Fuhler is one of my all time favorite musicians coming out of the Dutch scene. Pianist, composer, inventor, electronic musician. He covers a lot of ground. The band here was put together for the Doek Festival in 2006 at the Bimhuis. It featured Cor's Frankensteinian grafting of violin and keyboard: the Keyolin (TM).

Ghalia Benali

One of the great voices coming out of North Africa via Belgium, Ghalia Benali has been likened to Oum Kalsoum. She is incredible. We met through my dear friend and colleague, Eric Thielemans. Eric produced the record that we made together. These are some live tracks from a show we did in Namur, Belgium.

Here's where you can find more about Ghalia. Check out her records, they are amazing!

Maartje ten Hoorn Quartet

Maartje ten Hoorn was someone I played with off and on for several years. Her music was totally original and her violin sound is inimitable and piercingly beautiful. This track is a duo off the record that DATA Records put out. Check out the label's site, there is lots of great work that they have put out from the Dutch improv scene:
